Lake Towada is located in Towada-Hachimantai National Park, halfway between Aomori and Akita prefecture. True gems of Japanese nature, is the largest lake in the crater of the main island of Honshu lake. With its stunning forests, waterfalls and rapids, this region is one of the main tourist destinations in Tohoku. The surrounding mountains and Okura and Nakayama two peninsulas on the south bank are reflected in the lake, the bright green in the spring and ocher and purple in fall colors.
Nature lovers will enjoy the spectacular scenery and wildlife conserved. The many hot springs that surround allow you to enjoy the pleasures of the most authentic onsen.

Cruises on Lake Towada
This large lake (46 km in circumference) was formed in the crater of a volcano after a massive eruption. The brilliant blue of the water is due to its great depth (327 m) and purity that you can see up to 10 meters underwater. Boat tours can admire the surrounding landscape.

The Hakkoda Mountains
Between the city of Aomori Towada Lake extend a series of mountains for 1 300-1: 585 m forming a plateau. A cable car links Tamoyachi peak (1324 meters) in 10 minutes from the bus stop rail-air Ekimae (1 hour by bus from the train station in Aomori). The cable car round trip which costs 1.800 yen. Alpine plants grow in clusters, virgin coniferous forest, swamps and thermal waters attract many visitors.
