The World Heritage Convention of UNESCO maintains, protects and presents the outstanding universal value of our common heritage for over 40 years. These unique natural and cultural wonders are our past and present and belong to everyone. The World Heritage properties are important tourist destinations and managed effectively, has tremendous potential and can have an impact on local economic development and sustainability. 
Programme World Heritage and sustainable tourism represents a new approach based on dialogue and cooperation among stakeholders in tourism planning and wealth management are integrated into the destination, the natural and cultural features are valued and protect and develop tourism appropriate.

Those interested in the heritage and tourism share the responsibility for ensuring the preservation of our cultural and natural heritage of outstanding universal value and sustainable development based on proper management of tourism.




Programme World Heritage and Sustainable Tourism Mission 
To facilitate the management and development of sustainable tourism sites of World Heritage in increasing the awareness of all stakeholders, capacity building and promoting their participation in order to protect these assets and its outstanding universal value, while to ensure that tourism contributes to the conservation and sustainable development of local communities, and provides visitors with a quality experience.


The five objectives of the Programme:
+ Integrate the principles of sustainable tourism in the mechanisms of the World Heritage Convention.
+ Strengthen the enabling environment through the promotion of policies, strategies, frameworks and tools to support sustainable tourism as an important protection and management of cultural and natural heritage of outstanding universal value vehicle. 
+ Promote broad participation of stakeholders in the planning, development and management of tourism attractions based on sustainable tourism for heritage conservation and to empower local communities. 
+ Dale interested World Heritage capabilities and tools for managing tourism in an efficient, responsible and sustainable, given the situation and local needs. 
+ Promote tourism products and quality services to promote responsible behavior of all stakeholders and to better understand and appreciate the concept of outstanding universal value of the World Heritage protection.

Fundamental to achieving this vision and mission requirements: 
+ Interpretation and implementation of the World Heritage Convention, which takes into account sustainable tourism.
+ National, regional and local authorities have policies and frameworks for sustainable tourism that recognize an important form of management of cultural and natural heritage which they are responsible. 
+ Stakeholders are all attentive and attached to sustainable development, and able to manage tourism in a sustainable perspective aware. 
+ Local communities are proud of their sites with power, and have the ability to act for the preservation of assets and the sustainable management of tourist destinations of world heritage. 
+ A tourism industry that gives value to the world and works to preserve heritage while ensuring that their activities in the World Heritage sites are responsible, and promote economic and social development.
+ Aware of the outstanding universal value of the World Heritage and what it means to take visitors and responsible behavior.
