Plateau Hachimantai

South Lake Towada, Hachimantai tray (part of the natural park of Towada-Hachimantai) overlaps the Akita and Iwate Prefecture. It consists primarily of volcanoes of different types and shapes, such as Iwate, Koma, Hachimantai, Cha-usu Yakeyama or whose activity occurs here and there in the form of bubbling mud pools and steam or smoke belching smokestacks. In many places have developed spas, sometimes a little rustic but providing visitors with places to rest comfortably. The most popular are Goshogake and Toshichi. They are also a great opportunity to meet local people and experience of Japanese rural life.
The tray also provides an ideal base for hiking, climbing and skiing environment. It is famous for its natural beauty and variety of alpine vegetation found there. Monte Hachimantai, reaching a maximum of 1,613 meters, is located in the center of the plate. It is easily reached by road Hachimantai Aspite line running for 28 km across the board.

Goshogake Onsen

This spa is known for its abundant hot springs. There are seven different type fonts and steam baths. Nearby, you can see volcanic phenomena as a mud volcano (Kazan-doro) hot water or wetlands (oyunama). A 2 km trail hiking can observe (not accessible from November to March) natural phenomena.

Toshichi Onsen

At 1400 meters above sea level at the foot of Monte Mokko (3.5 km south of Mount Hachimantai), this spa resort is a ski resort that can be enjoyed until spring.

Horaikyo

Nicknamed "the land of eternal youth" northern Toshichi Onsen is a very diverse natural garden with dwarf pines and alpine vegetation grows. In early October, the fall colors are especially beautiful. There are also rocky concretions mysterious ways. A trail runs 40 minutes Horaikyo.

Genta-mori

In this forest, there is a beautiful view of the Hachiman-numa marsh lagoon and other Yakeyama and Mount (1366 meters) wide. 

A walk 20 minutes east of Mount Hachimantai.

The pond Hachiman-numa

The only crater lake on a shield volcano throughout Japan discovered after a 30-minute walk in nature. Do the walking tour takes about an hour and you can admire its emerald waters and unique vegetation. The surrounding alpine flowers are in full bloom in July and August.
